This Is the House that Jack Built 這是傑克蓋的房子 與之前介紹的 Joseph had a little overcoat 喬瑟夫有件舊大衣 和 There was an old lady who swallowed a fly 有個老太太吞下了一隻蒼蠅 是同一位作者 Simms Taback。它是一首有名的英國童謠，與There was an old lady who swallowed a fly 有個老太太吞下了一隻蒼蠅一樣，都是從原有的童謠來做插畫，而這兩首童謠也都是漸漸累積式的，到後來畫面就越來越擠了，還會讓人有＂食物鏈＂的感覺。

維基百科裡的說明指出，有些版本用字不同，這本書裡的用字和原文就有些不同，下面我將原文列出，括弧內的字是這本書用的字。除此之外，Simms Taback還再最後多加了一個角色，其實就是他自己。

故事從傑克蓋的房子說起，裡面有一塊乳酪，乳酪被老鼠吃了，老鼠被貓殺了，這貓被狗嚇壞了，這狗被曲角牛拋到天上，而孤獨的少女為曲角牛擠奶，穿得破破爛爛的男人親了這少女，鬍子刮得很乾淨的法官為他們證婚，早上啼叫的公雞叫醒了法官，種玉米的農夫養了這隻雞，最後就是第一個畫這幅畫的畫家。
