這一長串裡有好幾個有問題的標示牌，你找得出來嗎？
我先拿兩個出來討論，請繼續看下去。
這是舞蹈教室外的標示。Dancing classroom? 會跳舞的教室？太神奇了。
用 dance classroom 就行了，叫做 dance studio更好聽。
實地走到健身中心外，名稱卻與路標的標示不同，不過兩個都有問題。
路標上用的 bodybuilding ，是訓練出肌肉的活動，比較像是健美。
一般健身房用 gymnasium 就可以了，也不用再加 building。
人都是懶惰的，美國人也一樣，所以就把 gymnasium 簡稱 gym，其實他們就是同一個字啦。

[版主回覆08/07/2008 23:05:50]field and track 是田徑賽。field 是田賽，track是徑賽，我想兩個也可以拿來指場地。
athletic field應該也是OK的。
美國人喜歡踢球，大概對田徑賽比較沒有興趣，似乎較少看到田徑場，台灣是幾乎每個學校都有田徑場，踢不踢球倒是其次。
我也有發現美國人喜歡用名字命名場地，簡單多了。
那就得靠妳這種內行人才行。
我們國字看得懂就OK了，

[版主回覆08/07/2008 23:55:17]我只是剛好那天看到一個外國人，又看到棒球場用錯字，突然心血來潮，把運動場好好走了一遍，結果看到一堆錯誤。外國人看到一定也覺得很好笑吧。有意思

其實 , 妳可以上他們網站建議 , 這樣受惠的人更多,
不是每個人都有這方面的研究

我有想過，也去看了他們的網站，我看他們的人員編制很少。
我想，就算提出意見，或許他們也不會去改吧。
台灣目前的英語環境，大概只有台北比較好，其他地方都各自發展，時常看到錯誤。
如果他們很重視，應該在一開始就找人確認過才做標示牌，畢竟那是大眾看得到的，而且要花一筆錢呀。
Yeah, landscape building is totally weird! No such use here in the US.
What i can think of is the "Vista Point" we see sometimes at tourist's attractions.
I don't know if there is a name for this kind of place.
